IF YOU’RE GOING to San Francisco, you’re going to have to make sure you lock your rented car as well as wear some flowers in your hair.
That’s the lesson learned by Europe’s Ryder Cup winning captain Paul McGinley after he had golf clubs and mementos from last year’s tournament stolen yesterday.
McGinley, who was in San Francisco ahead of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am flew had stopped by Ocean Beach to take a walk with a friend and to “get a bit of fresh air” according to SFGate.
The Irish golfer, who was in the Bay Area early as he was due to test new clubs for TaylorMade, also had his travel bag and passport stolen.

Most upsettingly for McGinley, the thief made off with Ryder Cup mementos he had planned to auction for charity while in the US.
“I was just disappointed as I had only been in the country an hour and a half.
“It can happen in any country, or city in the world. I thought it was safe, and it didn’t cross my mind.”
